Beginning in 2020, I started donating 5% of my sales every month to an Indigenous-led nonprofit in my community. I live on land that has been stewarded for countless generations by the Indigenous people called the Tongva. I also frequently visit lands of the Tataviam, Chumash, and Serrano. I honor the cultural wisdom and practices that these communities have used to live in harmony with and take care of California’s native ecosystems for thousands of years. Though these communities have been deeply and irreparably harmed by European and American colonization, their people, language, and cultures still thrive today. I strongly believe that it is my responsibility, as a resident of this land and as a business owner, to find ways to give back to the Indigenous community.
