Giclée print on textured watercolor paper.
On an early summer hike through the Canyon Hills site, I stumbled across this scene of a poorwill mother and her chick nesting beneath a laurel sumac. Spring wildflowers frame them with a backdrop of chaparral/sage scrub typical to the area. The site also contains a uniquely colored population of Turkish rugging encountered by botanist Devon Christian - the white-flowered wildflower in the bottom left of the drawing.
Common poorwill (Phalaenoptilus nuttallii), laurel sumac (Malosma laurina), island morning glory (Calystegia macrostegia), Turkish rugging (Chorizanthe staticoides), miniature suncup (Camissoniopsis micrantha), bindweed turret bee (Diadasia bituberculata), cabbage white (Pieris rapae), California buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum), thick-leaved yerba santa (Eriodictyon crassifolium).
